Assessing the Feasibility of a Cloud-Based, Spatially Distributed Modeling Approach for Tracking Green Stormwater Infrastructure Runoff Reductions

چکیده
Use of green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) to mitigate urban runoff impacts has grown substantially in recent decades, but municipalities often lack an integrated approach prioritize areas for implementation, demonstrate compelling evidence catchment-scale improvements, and communicate program effectiveness. We present a method quantifying reduction benefits associated with distributed GSI that is designed align the spatial scale information required by implementation. The model was driven probabilistic representation rainfall events estimate annual reductions various design storm levels. Raster-based calculations provide estimates on 30-m grid, preserving unique combinations drainage factors drive production, hydrologic storage, infiltration GSI. showed strong correspondence aggregated continuous data from set urbanized catchments Salinas, California, USA, over three-year monitoring period output sensitivity drain network inputs. Because runs through web browser parameterization based readily available data, it suitable nonmodeling experts rapidly update features, compare alternative implementation scenarios, track progress toward goals, regulatory compliance.

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Urban storm water runoff poses a substantial threat of pollution to receiving surface waters. Green infrastructure, low impact development, green building ordinances, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) storm water permit compliance, and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) implementation strategies have become national priorities; however, designers need more sustainable, low-co...

In previous works we have presented a model to describe and simulate environment for situated multi-agent systems, that we called ELMS. Here, we present an extensions to our model that provide means to have normative information distributed in the environment. Organisational structures for multi-agent systems are usually defined independently of any spatial or temporal structure. Therefore, whe...
متن کاملGreen Infrastructure Design for Stormwater Runoff and Water Quality: Empirical Evidence from Large Watershed-Scale Community Developments
Green infrastructure (GI) design is advocated as a new paradigm for stormwater management, whereas current knowledge of GI design is mostly based on isolated design strategies used at small-scale sites. This study presents empirical findings from two watershed-scale community projects (89.4 km and 55.7 km) in suburban Houston, Texas. The GI development integrates a suite of on-site, infiltratio...
